The Big Question

She sat there in stunned silence. Her breathe caught in her chest being held there by the bonds of her surprise. The bed beneath her seemed to melt away and the comforter that was wrapped around her lost all texture. She was floating high above it all as the man who was kneeling beside her bed reached up gently to her left hand. Slowly he pushed a small object onto her finger, it glittered beautifully in the morning light. Tears came to her eyes and poured out onto the blanket. They were the hot tears of joy for nothing could ruin this moment for her. She lifted her eyes to meet the gaze of the man who was so gently holding her hand and waiting the answer that would change his life forever.
“Yes”, she whispered.
