The Prompt of the day- A restaurant that removed your favorite item from the menu, a bad cover of a great song… Write a post about something that should’ve been left untouched, but wasn’t. Why was the original better?
For me the first thing that comes to mind is Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Edition. This was the best edition released by Wizards of the Coast but over time they have released 4th and 5th edition. I play tested both and have played a few times outside of play testing and still think they are horrible. Wizards should have stopped while they were ahead with 3.5 edition.
Why was this one the best. It had the most and most thorough expansions to the amount of things you can do in the world. For example they released several expansions for just the classes or alternative classes that would allow for each player to build up to their ideal character. It was very goal oriented even for just making your character. With 4th and 5th it just feels more like punching numbers into the sheet and you are ready to play.
Thank you for reading my geeky feelings on Dungeons and Dragons.
