Food In 8th Grade

Prompt- What’s the most elaborate, complicated meal you’ve ever cooked? Was it a triumph for the ages, or a colossal fiasco? Give us the behind-the-scenes story (pictures are welcome, of course).

Shaken and Stirred

Back when I was in the 8th grade we were given an assignment where we had to go home and make a 5 course meal for our family. Now this whole thing had to be recorded that was we had proof that the assignment was actually completed.

Now since that was so long ago the pictures are lost to me as is most of what I made however the main course I can tell you about. It was lasagna, my mothers recipe with some changes that I made. It took about an hour to make and in the end was a hit with the whole family. Now because this was not a full entourage of the massive mess and story about what happened I decided to include a silly story from the same class.

We were given an egg that we had to take care of as a child for 1 week. Now it was a hard boiled egg so no smell or anything just this highly breakable thing to take care of. I made it to the very last day of the week with my egg in tact minus a single crack covered with a band aid. I put it in the same place every night. This night however my sister’s corgi decided that it was time for that egg to disappear.

The next morning I woke up to find the egg gone and all that remained was the band aid stuck to the corgi’s fur. Now due to the location and the irony of it being the last day of the assignment, I wasn’t mad at the dog truly I was just in a state of shock. To this day I find the event funny and I did end up failing that assignment. Apparently letting my “child” get eaten by a dog was proof of bad parenting.

Thank you for reading. Have a wonderful day.
