Witness Protection– When you do something scary or stressful — bungee jumping, public speaking, etc. — do you prefer to be surrounded by friends or by strangers? Why?
This one has several components to it in my opinion. For it greatly depends on the situation.
Most people are afraid of Public Speaking. For me this fear is easier to get over if I know a limited number of people in the audience and even easier if I do not know them that well. The reason for this is that if I make a mistake no one there will remember or care in the next hour or so. However if I make a mistake in front of my friends they will remember for life.
Now with bungee jumping or really anything dealing with heights I would prefer to be completely alone. Since that was not one of the options I will go with around friends. All of my friends know that I am afraid of heights but they also know that I want to go skydiving, bungee jumping, and a variety of “stupid” things. They know that if they are quiet and give me time I can overcome my own fear and get out on a ledge and do anything.
So for me it really does depend on the situation and it depends on the friends that are along for the ride.
