Krosmaster, League, and AoG

My life is full of gaming I am sure you all have noticed if you have read more than just my few scattered daily posts and things like that. Well a short little life update for today.

Tonight is the second day of the Krosmaster League I run here at The Troll’s Den. We are looking at 6 people being there since one player will be heading home today to see family. Giving out some awesome prize support so that will be exciting.

Afterwards I think several of us are all going to get on and play some League together. We are really all wanting to get to level 30 so as a group we can play ranked. Specifically team ranked matches. This would be a great experience we think and we could learn a lot.

Saturday another event for AoG on campus as we try to spread just how much fun we are. I am taking Force of Will, and other stuff as needed. The problem with owning a lot of games. Everyone can count on you to have a copy of what they are looking for. 🙂

After that guess what! Most likely more team working as we really are trying to become a viable League of Legends team.

Now the downside of this weekend. I am on call for my job so at any point I could have to run somewhere and deal with an incident.

Lock-In Session 6

The 6th and final session for the Association of Gamers Lock-In was a Fast and Furious themed one. I started by introducing the characters to each other and to their cars. The I thrust them directly into the heat of things, aka assaulting a semi.

They were on the road pursuing their target when two SUVs fell back from the convoy to intercept them. After only two rounds of car versus car combat the players drove them off the road. Creating a perfect gap for their team leader to make an advance.

They were then intercepted by 3 sedans and 2 SUVs that attempted to deter the party. The team had some difficulties as one of their cars was nearly destroyed after a particularly nasty round of combat. Making a comeback and with no shortage of firepower the team shot up or out maneuvered their opponents.

While one team had a person on the roof of the car and was trying to get in through the back another team pulled in front of the semi and tried to jump through the windshield. After several failed attempts and close deaths the party got the semi to pull to halt.

They were able to find their quarry, a pink diamond, one of a kind. They went to the drop site only to be attacked by a private army. After fleeing the scene and attempting to cause some damage on the way out. The leader received a call that he was holding Dom (Vin Diesel’s Character) hostage in exchange for the diamond.

The party went to the new drop site hoping to get their friend back in exchange for this diamond. The plan fell apart when they were surrounded by a massive army of men with machine guns. They held them off while trying to defend their position. They were losing and would have all died, until Dom showed up leading his team, scattering the militia to the wind. Giving the players a chance to escape and complete the job.

Lock-In Session 5

Feldyher- In this campaign the players were all your stereotypical vikings that were bad asses with their preferred weapons. One used a Long Bow, one a Warhammer, one threw Throwing Axes, one used a Claymore, and the last used a Two Handed Axe.

They were chosen by the village officials to go forth and defeat the Ice Dragon Feldyher who for the last 1000 years had plagued their village. As the story goes, ever since the dragon came the world has become colder and harsher for the people.

The adventurers set out at once to go and defeat Feldyher. They knew that to get there they would have to cross three rivers that were deep and treacherous. During the first day they reached the first of the rivers. After sending across one of them who could swim and having them anchor a rope across the river, the rest of the group moved across the river. They were very cold after reaching the other side and decided to make camp.

During the night they were attacked by Ice Trolls who took advantage of the dark to get the jump on the Two Handed Axe wielder. The Warhammer wielder was able to take out three with one mighty swing, while the archer stayed up in a tree firing with deadly precision. They felled the last of their foes and then gutted them. Collecting the fat to use to help resist the cold of the next river crossing.

At the next river the party once again sent one of their swimmers across the river after using the fat. They start across. When the third person reaches the center of the river (The Axe Thrower) a kraken attacks. It does its best to pull the rope holders into the river while biting the axe wielder. The Warhammer wielder throws herself into the river full force to take out the kraken. The Axe Wielder delivers blow after blow to the kraken while the Claymore Wielder tries to hook the kraken with a grappling hook. At last the kraken falls to the Warhammer wielder as a giant blow catches it in the middle of the forehead.

That night the party told each other stories late into the night. After the last person falls asleep the party is attacked by a group of Ice Wolves. They attacked as a single unit attempting to break the moral of the party. The party defended themselves with a great amount of skill, holding off the attack. However during the fight the Claymore wielder did die as a wolf caught his throat and ripped it out.

After the battle the party buried their fallen comrade and continued on to defeat Feldyher. At last the reached the final river, across the river they could see the entrance to the dragons home. The river was solid ice, they made their way across, it creaked and cracked but didn’t break under the weight of these barbarians.

They entered the cave afraid but determined. They walked in darkness, seeing a light ahead in the distance. Suddenly they found themselves in a large chamber with a huge white dragon before them.

They attacked, it attacked. Arrows flew true, blades were bent, a great battle was fought. The dragon was unable to kill any of their party members as it fell dead before them.

They would be Heroes.

Lock-In Session 4

Session number 4 was based on the movie Rise of the Guardians. The one with Hugh Jackman playing the Easter Bunny.

The players all played as someone from the movie; Bunny, Santa, Tooth, Sandy, and Jack. They all feel an urge to visit Germany as they can feel darkness spreading.

When they arrive they hear the terrible stories children are telling about people like Cinderella whose own step sisters cut off their toe and heel to try and fit in a glass slipper. Only to be attacked by birds and have theirs eyes pecked out.

They trace the stories to a single source, the Grimm Brothers. The party searched for the brothers and eventually located them in a secluded house in Germany. As they approached a witch flew out of the sky and attacked them. After killing the with she burst apart scattering ripped books everywhere.

Next a army of dwarves appeared blocking their path. Again upon their destruction piles of shredded paper and bindings appeared. By now the players are assuming that killing these creatures is an act of destroying the story therefore killing the darkness that is being spread by them.

Now they reach the house, where a wolf sleeps guarding the door. After an attempt to sneak by, in which Jack did manage to open the door without the wolf noticing. They were all attacked. Once again the heroes were victorious. Leaving behind another pile of paper they marched on.

There they saw Wilhelm and Jacob Grimm, terror to children and destroyers of fairy tails. The characters attacked, Sandy was killed (to come back later because the children still believe in him). Then Pitch appeared backing up his minions of evil. Together the players defeated their enemies and took victory.

Pitch escaped into the night evading the heroes to return another day.

Lock-In Session 3

In this session the characters were all 1950’s housewives who were standing up against the Zombie Apocalypse using guns that would make you laugh. The entire session was inspired from a single picture I saw on the internet one day.

Catling Gun

These 1950’s housewives stood up to the zombie apocalypse and while the men all died around them, they took a stand. They all started at one house as they were getting ready for a neighborhood picnic. Suddenly a zombie came through the window and killed their husbands. At this moment the women were filled with energy and transformed (similar to Sailor Moon) into their true selves.

With their combined bad ass skill sets the lovely ladies laid waste to their late husbands and set off to find their children, (and some wine). They reached the park in time to see that all of their children had turned and a helicopter had laid waste to all zombies in the area.

After being hailed by the helicopter the women went to the supermarket and made some Molotov Cocktails to use as deadly weapons. After encountering zombie dogs, regular zombies, and zombies driving cars; they all made it to the stadium where the helicopter told them to await back up.

At the stadium they were attacked by a zombie titan who nearly killed them all. Thanks to the skill and luck of the players the giant zombie was slain as help arrived. They were the only survivors of their town but they showed great skill and deadliness in the field.

Lock-In Session 2

This session was a Borderlands themed campaign. They started on a bus with Marcus driving like Borderlands 1, however they are dropped off at Crazy Earl’s house, where Patricia Tannis and Tiny Tina are at building a rocket for the players.

They are all launched into space headed for the meteor of Fenrir, which may or may not have a vault on it.

In this session the characters went through combat after bloody combat in an attempt to receive information about the supposed vault. They landed and were immediately involved in combat with a group of Skags.

Closely following this the group wandered into the actual Skag home site. They were of course attacked by these hungry beasts. After killing all of them the party found a recording talking about a map being held at the local Dahl headquarters.

When they reached the Dahl headquarters they saw that it had been overrun with Psychos. After dispatching all of the Psychos the party was attacked by Grumpy, a skag of incredible size.

They defeated Grumpy in a swift manner and returned to searching for the vault.

After securing a vehicle they jumped a canyon while fending off a rock slide using bullets. (It’s Borderlands, of course that’s legit.) The pistol user took a rock to the face and was injured the rest of the session.

After reaching the other side a spectral image opened a giant gate for the party. They went through hoping that they had found the vault. Instead they found Lifebringer. A Skag whose very skin had trees growing in it and size filled the room.

They easily killed this giant foe who dropped for them a key made of pure Eridium.

Lock-In Session 1

The first session that I ran was a take on Red Dawn, the characters were all college students at their local college for a night class. When suddenly three armed individuals rush in and shoot the professor.

They are led out into the hallway and towards the door. When they reach the door they are fired upon by a policeman who their escorts now shoot down. At this moment the group chose to fight and proceeded to in a single round take out their guards.

Now the group of them hatch a plan to free their families, find shelter, and stop the invasion in their town. At first they try to get weapons (They have the three from their guards, 1 shotgun, and 1 pistol), where they spot a large amount of guards at the police station. The party is dissuaded and now they are thinking about people. At this moment they can hear a voice over the speaker.

The voice is talking about how lucky the citizens are that they are still alive, while simultaneously killing other people. A fence has been constructed around the entire town, they are now stuck inside of a compound.

The party hatches a plan to take out the power supply for the fence that is now decorated with corpses of those who fought the invasion. They still need to get out of the compound, their plan, drive through the fence at a weak point.

After searching for the weakest point they find a section of fence that is not yet complete because the invaders are burning the building that is being built beside. They decide to rush this section of the fence despite there being 6 people with assault rifles. It is during this moment the driver channeled her Shotgun to protect the party. “Come on Becca” (Becca being the name of the shotgun.)

They easily disposed of their enemies with only two of their members being wounded, one of them the driver and hunter. Once outside of the compound the party headed to the local Dam which provides the towns power.

After spending some time looking around inside they came up with the idea to shut the whole thing off and making it inoperable using some materials they got at the college.

When the power supply went offline the Commander of the invasion forces for this town accompanied his soldiers to investigate leading to a shootout where the party successfully killed off any threat to their town.
